What is Keto Flu and How to avoid it.

What is Keto Flu?

The Ketogenic diet has been scientifically proven to be better without exercise than the American diet with exercise. It’s simple science and people are coming to the lifestyle in droves. However, some do not anticipate the bodies adaption to Keto, and the downsides thereof. I have experienced it myself, so I'm here to warn you, and give you some advice to overcome the Keto blues.

The Keto Flu - It takes 3-5 weeks for your body to acclimate to burning fat instead of glucose. This leaves you tired, groggy, and generally not feeling great. Fear not, there are a few ways to overcome the Keto flu.

  1. Make sure you are sticking to your macros - make sure you have the right balance of fat, protein, and carbs, if you are off it will make your symptoms worse. Download a macro counter app and keep track of EVERYTHING you eat.
  2. Drink TONS of water - your body needs to flush the fat and ketones out of your system, that means it NEEDS a lot of water. If you live in a dry state go with the 80 20 20. Drink 80 oz of water, then add 20 oz. If you still feel gross add another 20.
  3. Exercise - exercise wakes you up, keeps your ketosis stable, and releases endorphin's. It's imperative that you exercise every day. Even if it’s just a walk around your neighborhood.
  4. Electrolytes and supplements - since your body is flushing water and gunk out of your system at an alarming rate you need to keep not only hydrated, but full of electrolytes. Also extra vitamins and supplements help fill in any needed nutrition you may have missed during the day.

Now you could put together a smattering of vitamins and supplements yourself, or just shop our supplements, especially our new K-BOOST, exogenous ketones mixed with electrolytes, I call this “magic liquid” as it helped me get over my keto flu quickly. And the best part? It tastes absolutely delicious.
